About Us

Originally certified for diving in the late 1980s, Doug and Vicki Wakeman have a combined experience of close to 40 years diving the world’s oceans. With excursions to remote places such as Palau, Chuuk and Fiji amongst others, they have dove with and taken photographs of some of the worlds most unique animals in some of the most beautiful underwater environments,

Originally using the old Nikonos V system of underwater cameras, over the years they have moved through various film SLRs and ultimately into today’s digital age. Their current cameras of choice are Nikon’s D2x and D200 digital SLR cameras. To keep the harsh ocean elements away from these delicate cameras, they rely upon Subal housings

The photographs in these pages are taken with a variety of Nikon lenses including the Nikon 60mm, 105mm, 70-180mm and for wide angle the 17-55mm and 12-24mm. Lighting is provided with a number of underwater strobes including Ikelite SS200 and DS125s as well as the new Sea and Sea YS-110.
